Key to success = Cross Sector Collaborations

There has been a lot of good work and 'thinking  about data'  done by many corporations, government actors and nonprofit organizations .

Every individual and entity provides a new source of knowledge for the new Block Data 4 Good platform.

Reaching out to the networks  listed below and creating the collaborative data sharing environment  that will allow for sharing of  data with the existing the community.

With the newly launched BRIDGE NUMBER, the social sector, for the first time has unique identification numbers for each nonprofit, both domestic and global.  These unique identification numbers will be used t self-published data.o build relationships and

BRIDGE was launched in February of 2016 as a central  number scheme (database)  for all nonprofits, both domestic and international. Bridge  is a database of over three million nonprofits and was jointly developed by Foundation Center, Global Giving, Guide Star and TechSoup.   Unique numbers are assigned to every organization for easy reporting and aggregation of philanthropic initiatives.   The Bridge Project was funded by grants from the social good community.

Foundation Center has extensive datasets on philanthropy and holds the premier collection of historical giving data for foundations.  FC provides free access to a dataset of aggregated grant information through their Foundation Directory Online  site.  Foundation Center also supports hGrant, the proposed grant record standard for Doers and Donors.  hGrant is the technical specification for publishing grants information to the Web using a series of nested HTML elements.  hGrant was developed as part of the Grantsfire project, which was acquired by the Foundation Center in 2010.   Collaborations with the Foundation Center will greatly enhance the capacity of Doers and Donors to build valuable data connections for members to Foundation Center datasets

Guide Star helped develop BRIDGE numbering system for the nonprofit sector.    Guide Star provides a wide range of both self reported data and government data relating to a nonprofits financial accountability. Financial ratios do not provide the comprehensive measure on how an organization is effective at accomplishing its mission.   "GuideStar, the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, and Charity Navigator have joined forces to help donors and nonprofits focus on the metrics that matter most: those that show how well an organization is accomplishing its mission." GuideStar.org.  Data from the GuideStar database will be available via the Doers and Donors database search.

Tech Soup Global helped develop the BRIDGE numbering system along with GuideStar and the Foundation Center.  Tech Soup Global is in a unique knowledge position of having 'doer and donor' data where there has been an attempt to standardize and localize the data  for international markets.  TSG's unique and extensive dataset for 'in kind' donations tracks donations from  international technology partners at a granular level.  An important relationship to foster and an important dataset to integrate.

Internet Archive: Digital Library, Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library offering free universal access to books, movies & music, as well as 466 billion archived web pages.https://www.archive.org/.

Donors Choose:  Donors Choose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need, moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education. http://www.donorschoose.org/

Philanthropic Associations and Networks :  The social good space has a wide range of associations for professionals who work in the sector.  These networks provide good avenues sharing information on 'data philanthropy'.  The associations that target foundations like the Council on Foundations will be important partnerships to establish.

Grant Management Software Providers:  There software vendors providing grant management software (like Smart Simple and Fluxx) are in a unique position to create 'easy' buttons for donation of data within their platforms that would enable routines that automate 'subscribed' data donations, just like automated subscription renewals.
